São revelados novas pró-drogas orais de análogos de nucleotídeos de fosfonatos que são hidrolizáveis sob condições fisiológicas para fornecer compostos que são úteis com agentes antivirais, especialmente como agentes eficazes contra o vírus de RNA e de DNA. Eles podem também encontrar uso como agentes antitumor.
