A invenção refere-se a uma composição farmacêutica para administração retal que compreende 1,2,3,9-tetra-hidro-9-metil-3-[(2-metil-1H-imidazo l-1-il)- metil]4H-carbazol-4-ona na forma de sua base livre ou um solvato farmaceuticamente aceitável do mesmo, como ingrediente ativo, junto com um ou mais veículos ou excipientes farmaceuticamente aceitáveis. Os processos para a fabricação destas composições e para seu uso no tratamento de condições mediadas através da ação de 5-hidroxitriptamina em receptores 5-HT~ 3~ são também descritos.
