Abstract
Trata-se de um processo fácil para a produção de 3-mercaptopropionila e ácido 3-mercaptopropiônico pela reação de tiodipropionila com hidrossulfeto alcalino em presença de hidróxido alcalino. A acidificação do produto de reação resultante com um ácido forte, ou uma saponificação, produz o ácido mercaptopropiônico desejado, que pode ser isolado com alto rendimento.
