Abstract
Um processo para a fermentação e isolamento de compostos (I) e (II), membros da família de antibióticos de benzoquinona de ansamicina, que têm as fórmulas, da Figura (I) e (II), bem como a síntese química do composto (II) a partir do composto (I) são revelados na presente invenção. Os compostos da presente invenção são úteis contra desordens proliferativas que incluem, mas não se limitam, câncer em mamíferos, especialmente humanos. Os compostos da presente invenção são também esperados como sendo úteis contra certos microorganismos e têm utilidade como agentes imunossupressivos contra doenças auto-imunes.
