Abstract
Patente de Invenção "CONSTRUCTOS DE DNA, CÉLULAS DE PLANTAS, PLANTAS, FRUTOS OU SEMENTES, SEMENTES DE TOMATE, FRUTO MODIFICADO GENETICAMENTE E TOMATES". Constructos de DNA compreendem uma seqúência de DNA homóloga a parte ou todo o gene codificado pelo clone pTOM75. Os constructos podem compreender ainda uma região de iniciação de transcrição funcionante em plantas para transcrever essa seqúência de DNA, opcionalmente na direção em sentido contrário ("antisense"), para produzir mRNA complementar ao gene pTOM75. Células de plantas e plantas podem ser derivadas a partir de tais constructos, nas quais a expressão do gene pTOM75 é inibida: frutos obtidos a partir das plantas (tais como tomates) podem mostrar propriedades de amadurecimento modificadas, tal como maior conteúdo de ácido.
