A invenção provê novas girondalonas de fórmula (vide fórmula) em que A é um resíduo de um dialdeído'; R~ 1~ é independentemente selecionado dentre o grupo consistindo de R~ 2~ e alquila (C~ 1~ - C~ 18~ ) e R~ 2~ é (Vide fórmula) em que (i) X~ 1~ e X~ 2~ podem ser unidos para formar anel carbocíclico fundido, de 5 ou 6 membros, o referido anel sendo saturado, insaturado, ou aromático, ou (ii) X~ 1~ = C1, H, metila ou Br, e X~ 2~ = H, Cl ou Br.
