Abstract
A presente invenção trata de um processo para a purificação de índigo que compreende a extração ou extirpação de uma solução aquosa, alcalina de indoxilato, tal como obtida por síntese, antes de sua oxidação em índigo das impurezas, na ausência de oxigênio, por meio de destilação ou por passagem de vapor d'água ou um gás inerte através dela e, então, tratamento do índigo, precipitado por oxidação da solução extraída de indoxilato, com uma solução aquosa diluída de peróxido de hidrogênio.
