A invenção se aplica em instalações de resfriamento a úmido de coque com o objetivo de eliminar a poluição ambiental causada pelas partículas de coque carreadas para a atmosfera pelo vapor oriundo do processo. Defletores (3) e (4) são posicionados no Interior da torre de extinção (1), criando caminhos preferenciais para o vapor contaminado e forçando a deposição das partículas. Ejetores de água (2) e (5), estrategicamente localizados, são responsáveis pela limpeza periódica dos defletores (3) e (4).
