A presente patente de invenção refere-se à utilização de eletrocatalisadores contendo nanoparticulas metálicas suportadas em uma mistura de carbono e óxidos inorgânicos para aplicação em células a combustível de baixa temperatura de operação na oxidação anódica de hidrogénio, misturas hidrogénio/CO e álcoois diretamente como combustíveis, e na redução catódica de oxigênio ou ar.
