Abstract
MEIO DE SUPORTE DE LEITO. A invenção refere-se a um sistema para o tratamento de um ou mais materiais fluentes que inclui um leito de suporte (32) que compreende uma pluralidade de elementos de suporte (34). O leito de suporte pode ter uma fração de vazio de pelo menos 45%. Um leito ativo (36), tal como um leito de elementos catalíticos, pode estar suportado pelo leito de suporte. A fração de vazio do leito de suporte pode ser maior do que aquela de um leito equivalente de elementos esféricos, convencionais, permitindo aperfeiçoamentos significativos na taxa de fluxo de reagentes através do leito e/ou uma reduzida queda de pressão através do leito de suporte.
