Óleo de manjericão ou um de seus compostos componentes e um agente antimicrobiano sintético são capazes de exibir atividade antimicrobiana sinérgica e, portanto, são úteis na fabricação de uma composição de tratamento e/ou prevenção da caspa. Uma composição de tratamento de cabelos e/ou couro cabeludo compreende óleo de manjericão e uma piritiona metálica, em que o óleo de manjericão e a piritiona metálica são capazes de exibir atividade antimicrobiana sinérgica.
