Abstract
"MÉTODO E APARELHO PARA TRATAMENTO POR SONICAÇÃO DE MEIOS CONTAMINADOS COM BIFENILAS POLICLORADAS". A invenção consiste em um método para o tratamento de meio contaminado com bifenila policlorada (PCB) por: a) combinação do meio com um fluido contendo um ou mais hidrocarbonetos líquidos para formar uma mistura de meio/fluido; b) sonicação da mistura em audiofreqüência para extrair a PCB do meio para o fluido; e c) tratamento do fluido com metal alcalino contendo sódio. Método pode incluir etapas adicionais para reduzir o tamanho do meio. Alternativamente, o fluido pode ser decantado do meio após a sonicação e tratado separadamente com metal alcalino contendo sódio.
