Um meio (210) possuindo uma estrutura de suporte configurada para circulação de um fluido contido nela, tal como um cartucho de filtro substituível (258), incluindo um agente desinfetante (236) o qual contém um ou mais reagentes que são quimicamente configurados para a distribuição de dióxido de cloro ou outros agentes desinfetantes em uma dose controlada para sanear, desodorizar, e desinfetar, sendo molhado por um fluído e posicionado na estrutura de suporte do meio a ser exposta à circulação de fluído contido nele.
