Abstract
"PRENDEDOR DE ESCLERÓTICA E PROCEDIMENTOS PARA UTILIZAR O MESMO". Um método e prendedor (54) para tratar presbiopia e/ou glaucoma de ângulo aberto nos quais a esclerótica é suportada ou reforçada, enquanto substancialmente mantendo a relação espacial entre o músculo ciliar e o cristalino. O método inclui fazer uma incisão na conjuntiva para ter acesso à esclerótica sobrepondo o músculo ciliar. As cápsulas de Tenon são movidas lateralmente para expor a esclerótica e a esclerótica é estendida para o exterior. Um prendedor (54) ou uma série de prendedores (54) é proporcionado possuindo dois braços que podem ser fechados (62, 64) para engatar a esclerótica estendida para o exterior entre os mesmos. Os braços (62, 64) do prendedor (54) são fechados na esclerótica de modo a prender uma parte da esclerótica e então as cápsulas de Tenon são deslizadas sobre o prendedor (54) e a conjuntiva é fechada.
