Referente a um processo onde estruturas contendo colágeno são estimuladas pela iluminação da estrutura-alvo com radiação iluminante causando elevação da temperatura da estrutura-alvo; a radiação sendo especificamente dosada para o alvo e sendo controlada para induzir uma resposta inflamatória precisa e predeterminada no tecido-alvo; a estrutura-alvo do tecido sendo diretamente iluminada, sem a radiação iluminante passar significativamente através de tecidos externos.
