As colunas (07) são ocas, e em seu interior movimentam-se os contrapesos (08) fixados nas outras extremidades dos cabos de aço (05). Junto à cabeceira ou peseira há um conjunto de armários (09) e, do outro lado, uma estante para livros (10), abaixo da qual articula-se um tampo de mesa (04).
