A luminosidade é visualizada pelo pescador (5) sob ação de uma luz externa (6) . que deve ser emitida diretamente na bóia (1) com a película reflexiva (2) em alinhamento com os olhos (7) do pescador (5) e que revela uma trajetória cônica (8) tanto da fonte de luz como da luminosidade refletida.
