Abstract
A biomassa (por exemplo, biomassa vegetal, biomassa animal e biomassa de resÃduos municipais) é processado para produzir intermediários e produtos úteis, como ácidos hidroxicarboxÃlicos alifáticos e derivados do ácido hidroxicarboxÃlico. Esses ácidos hidroxicarboxÃlicos alifáticos são, por sua vez, polimerizados. A polimerização é realizada usando um evaporador de pelÃcula fina ou um dispositivo de polimerização/desvolatilização de pelÃcula fina. A conversão de ácido láctico em ácido poliláctico é um produto especialmente útil para este processo.
