A presente invenção apresenta composições e métodos para melhorar a utilização e reduzir os efeitos antinutricionais de fibras não digeríveis (NDFs) na alimentação animal. Os métodos compreendem administrar oralmente ao animal uma composição que compreende lisozima. Os métodos e composições podem ser usados para melhorar a utilização de NDFs, o desempenho de crescimento, a viabilidade ou qualquer combinação dos mesmos em animais não humanos.
