MÉTODO PARA REDUÇÃO DA PRODUÇÃO DE METANO E/OU PARA MELHORAR O DESEMPENHO DE UM RUMINANTE. A presente invenção refere-se a um método para reduzir a produção de metano e/ou melhorar o desempenho de um ruminante, o referido método compreende a etapa de administrar ao ruminante um ou mais di-halometanos selecionados a partir do grupo que consiste em dibromometano, di-iodometano, bromoiodometano e cloroiodometano em uma quantidade eficaz na faixa de 2 a 50 mg de di-halometanos/kg de DM. A presente invenção refere-se também a um aditivo para ração para ruminantes e a um ou mais di-halometanos para uso em um método para reduzir a produção de metano e/ou melhorar o desempenho de um ruminante.
