A presente divulgação fornece métodos para melhorar ou tratar uma condição ou doença neurológica em um indivíduo em necessidade de tratamento, por meio da administração ao indivíduo de uma quantidade terapeuticamente eficaz de uma composição que compreende (i) um DNA recombinante (rDNA), em que o rDNA compreende um gene do receptor hormonal nuclear humano (hNHR) ou um fragmento do mesmo; e (ii) um veículo de entrega adaptado para administrar o dito rDNA a células ou tecidos neurológicos para melhorar ou tratar a dita condição ou doença neurológica.
