São descritas neste documento composições que compreendem dibenzilamida de bumetanida para o tratamento de condições selecionadas dos sistemas nervoso central e periférico empregando mecanismos não sinápticos. Mais especificamente, a presente divulgação se refere a métodos e composições para o tratamento de distúrbios neurológicos por administração de agentes que interrompem a atividade neuronal hipersincronizada sem diminuir a excitabilidade neuronal. Essas composições são úteis para distúrbios convulsivos, epilepsia e indicações relacionadas.
