O presente documento se refere a um processo para a preparação de grafeno e/ou grafite a partir de um material contendo carbono, sendo que o processo compreende pelo menos dois tratamentos térmicos, o primeiro sendo executado a uma temperatura de 300 °C ou abaixo, o segundo a uma temperatura de pelo menos 700 °C, por exemplo, entre 700 °C e 1400 °C, sendo que o processo não inclui injeção de hidrogênio externo ou um gás inerte.
