RESISTÊNCIA A PATÓGENOS EM PLANTAS MEDIADA POR FIT2. A presente invenção refere-se a um polinucleotídeo isolado, recombinante ou sintético compreendendo uma proteína FIT2 e homólogos, fragmentos e variações dos mesmos. A invenção se refere ainda a plantas transgênicas, partes das plantas e células vegetais compreendendo um ou mais desses polinucleotídeos e exibindo resistência ou tolerância a um patógeno, como patógenos fúngicos. A invenção se refere ainda a métodos de engenharia genética de uma característica de resistência ou tolerância a patógenos em uma planta, parte da planta ou célula vegetal, compreendendo edição genética direcionada de um homólogo FIT2 ou seus elementos reguladores para alterar a expressão de um homólogo FIT2 e plantas produzidas a partir deles. A invenção se refere ainda a métodos para identificar genes FIT2 funcionais e/ou alelos dos mesmos.
