Abstract
ALGAS RECOMBINANTES COM ALTA PRODUTIVIDADE LIPÍDICA. A presente invenção refere-se a organismos alga recombinantes que possuem uma modificação genética em um gene ou sequência de ácido nucleico que codifica um domínio de ligação ao RNA. Em algumas modalidades, a modificação genética pode ser uma deleção funcional ou atenuação do gene. A modificação genética resulta em um organismo mutante com maior produtividade lipídica e/ou maior produtividade de biomassa. Os produtos lipídicos desses mutantes podem ser utilizados como biocombustíveis ou para fabricar outros produtos especiais. Os mutantes recombinantes também podem, opcionalmente, ter uma modificação genética em um gene que codifica um polipeptídeo SGI1. Métodos de produção e uso dos mutantes de algas recombinantes e métodos de produção de lipídios também são descritos.
