USO DE ?-HIDROXI-?-METILBUTIRATO (HMB) PARA A PREPARAÇÃO DE UM MEDICAMENTO PARA INIBIR OCRESCIMENTO TUMORAL, PARA AUMENTAR A SOBREVIVÊNCIA, PARA PROTEGER CONTRA PERDA DE PESO INDUZIDA POR QUIMIOTERAPIA, PARA PROTEGER CONTRA INFLAMAÇÃO INDUZIDA POR QUIMIOTERAPIA E PARA PROVER UM TRATAMENTO ANTICAQUÉTICO EM UM ANIMAL SUBMETIDO A TRATAMENTO QUIMIOTERÁPICO.A presente invenção provê métodos de administração de HMB a mamíferos submetidos a tratamento quimioterápico ou recebendo um agente quimioterápico para inibir o crescimento tumoral, aumentar a sobrevivência animal, proteger contra perda de peso induzida por quimioterapia, proteger contra inflamação induzida por quimioterapia e/ou prover um tratamento anticaquético.
