Abstract
TRATAMENTO PARA SOBRECARGA DE FERRO FISIOLÓGICA.A presente invenção refere-se a anticorpos direcionados contra a enzima matriptase-2 (MTP-2). A inibição da MTP-2 reduz a absorção de ferro alimentar e reduz a liberação de ferro a partir de depósitos celulares dentro do corpo. Os inibidores de MTP-2 (tais como os anticorpos direcionados contra o domínio serina protease) podem ser usados para tratar uma sobrecarga de ferro, a qual é uma característica de doenças, tais como a beta-talassemia e os quais conduzem de outro modo a uma acumulação tóxica de ferro. A combinação de um inibidor da MTP-2 com uma armadilha de ligante do receptor de activina, ou com eritropoietina, proporciona efeitos terapêuticos adicionais.
