COMPOSIÇÕES E MÉTODO PARA FAZER RIBITOL, BEM COMO RIBITOL. A presente divulgação descreve composições que compreendem ribitol substancialmente puro, composições farmacêuticas de ribitol e métodos para fazer ribitol. Os métodos podem incluir a combinação de um agente redutor (por exemplo, borohidreto) e ribose (por exemplo, D-ribose), opcionalmente com agitação, para formar uma primeira mistura de reação; e colocar a primeira mistura de reação e um agente de resfriamento brusco com ácido em contato, opcionalmente com agitação, para formar uma segunda mistura de reação, formando assim ribitol.
