A presente invenção se refere a novos peptídeos derivados de HD-5 ou HNP-4 tendo atividade antimicrobiana para uso em modulação do microbioma dos intestinos, dos pulmões, da pele, da boca, dos olhos, dos ouvidos, da vagina ou de outras superfícies corporais e/ou para uso como um agente antimicrobiano em um humano ou em outros mamíferos, bem como a medicamentos contendo esses peptídeos.
