Algumas doenças são menores; no entanto, outras como as Xanthomonas representam um problema sério, causando um impacto econômico adverso significativo. É um objetivo da invenção pelo menos de alguma maneira abordar ou prover ao público uma escolha útil. A invenção compreende um método de tratamento de uma planta contra doenças resultantes de patógenos de Proteobacteria (por exemplo, Xanthomonas), compreendendo a aplicação à planta de ácido graxo e silicato.
