A composição antimicrobiana tixotrópica pode ser usada para tratar vários produtos ou superfícies alimentares. Algumas composições antimicrobianas tixotrópicas podem incluir ácido peroxiacético como um agente antimicrobiano e/ou goma xantana ou goma guar como um agente tixotrópico. Um artigo tratado pode incluir a composição antimicrobiana tixotrópica em pelo menos uma superfície do mesmo.
