Mais particularmente, são aqui abrangidos composições compreendendo um extrato em solvente polar e/ou uma fração do mesmo derivado de uma planta Inula (por exemplo, Inula helenium) e métodos e uso dos mesmos na proteção de tecidos compreendendo células epiteliais dos efeitos adversos de toxinas, particularmente toxinas exógenas que se originam da poluição ambiental.
