Abstract
Processo para prevenir ou tratar a miopia inclui aplicar uma energia pulsada, como um feixe de laser pulsado, no tecido de um olho com miopia ou um risco de ter miopia. A fonte de energia pulsada possui parâmetros de energia, incluindo comprimento de onda ou frequência, ciclo de trabalho e duração de sucessão de pulsos, selecionados de modo a elevar a temperatura do tecido ocular até onze graus Celsius para obter efeito terapêutico ou profilático, como estimular a ativação da proteína de choque térmico no tecido ocular. O aumento médio da temperatura do tecido ocular durante vários minutos é mantido em ou abaixo de um nível predeterminado, para não danificar permanentemente o tecido ocular
