Abstract
A presente invenção refere-se a um sistema para ajudar a determinar quando uma tomada elétrica está no fim de sua vida útil e deve ser submetida a manutenção ou substituição. Uma unidade de detecção de conexão (102) e uma unidade de contagem (103), respectivamente, monitoram a conexão de um dispositivo a uma porta (101) e mantém uma contagem de conexões de eventos de conexão. Para conexões USB tipo C, um cabo ou um circuito de detecção de resistência do dispositivo pode ser utilizado para determinar se um dispositivo USB tipo C ou cabo foi conectado. Conexões USB Tipo A e de CA podem ser detectadas por mecanismos mecânicos ou elétricos. Quando uma conexão tiver sido detectada, um contador pode aumentar ou diminuir para registrar uma conexão. Um valor limite pode ser estabelecido e comparado com a contagem de conexões e uma indicação sensorial ou eletrônica pode ser feita quando o valor limite é excedido.
