São descritos aqui polipeptídeos e anticorpos compreendendo uma região Fc variante. A região Fc variante provê interações Fc-Fc estabilizadas quando o(s) polipeptídeo(s), anticorpo ou anticorpos estão ligados ao seu alvo, antígeno ou antígenos na superfície de uma célula, apresentando, ao mesmo tempo, citotoxicidade dependente do complemento (CDC) diminuída, e também pode apresentar ativação diminuída de outras funções efetoras resultantes de uma ou mais modificações de aminoácidos na região Fc.
