Abstract
Um implante para uso em uma coluna vertebral inclui um corpo e uma pluralidade de componentes estruturais. A pluralidade de componentes estruturais inclui componentes externos que são arranjados para contactar uma vértebra mediante implantação e componentes de suporte que fornecem reforço e estabilidade para os componentes externos. Os componentes externos podem ter seções com uma geometria helicoidal generalizada. A geometria helicoidal generalizada fornece regiões de superfícies voltadas para fora distais e proximais e cria uma série de zonas de fusão protegidas ao longo das superfícies superior e inferior do implante para favorecer o crescimento de osso adjacente.
