Abstract
A presente invenção refere-se de modo geral ao uso de composições para aumentar a produção de acetato e lactato enquanto reduzindo o pH e os níveis de bactérias patogênicas e inflamação no intestino de um mamífero lactente incluindo seres humanos. Estas composições geralmente compreendem uma ou mais cepas bacterianas selecionadas por seu crescimento sobre oligossacarídeos do leite de mamífero, uma fonte de oligosascarídeos do leite de mamíferos, e, opcionalmente, componentes nutritivos requeridos para o crescimento daquele mamífero bebê.
