Abstract
A presente invenção diz respeito a polióis poliésteres feitos a partir de fontes de poliácido aromático, tais como poliésteres termoplásticos. Os polióis podem ser feitos ao se aquecer um poliéster termoplástico, tal como tereftalato de polietileno virgem, tereftalato de polietileno reciclado ou misturas destes, com um glicol para fornecer um intermediário digerido, o qual é então reagido com um polímero digestível, o qual pode ser obtido a partir de várias correntes de resíduos de reciclagem. Os polióis poliésteres compreendem uma fonte de poliácido digerido por glicol e um polímero digestível adicional. Os polióis poliésteres proveem uma alternativa sustentável para polióis à base bioquímica ou petroquímica.
