Abstract
RESUMOPatente de Invenção: "REDUÇÃO DOS NÍVEIS DE GALECTINA-3 POR MEIO DE PLASMAFERESE". A presente invenção é dirigida à remoção de gal-3 em circulação no soro por plasmaferese usando agentes de ligação à gal-3 em um leito fixo ou em uma forma facilmente removida, tal como ao formar um complexo com partículas magnéticas. Este método, em si, permite uma grande redução e alívio da inflamação e fibrose que podem ser induzidas pela gal-3 em circulação. O processo pode ser combinado com a administração de agentes de ligação à gal-3, tal como pectina cítrica modificada, para diminuir ainda mais os níveis de gal-3 não ligada, até o ponto onde a gal-3 tecidual possa ser abordada. Este método pode também ser combinado com remoção de receptores de TNF para proporcionar um tratamento eficaz para câncer.
