Ã fornecido um composto de cromeno que tem um substituinte contendo enxofre representado pela fÃ³rmula (2) no Ã¡tomo de carbono de posiÃ§Ã£o-6 e/ou de posiÃ§Ã£o-7 de uma estrutura de indeno(2, 1 -f)nafto( I ,2-b)pirano. Este composto de cromeno tem excelentes caracterÃsticas fotocrÃ´micas, e tambÃ©m apresenta excelente estabilidade em temperaturas altas. (Na fÃ³rmula, o anel X representa um anel hidrocarbÃ´nico aromÃ¡tico ou um anel heterociclico aromÃ¡tico; cada um de R3 e R4 representa um grupo alquila, um grupo haloalquila, um grupo cicloalquila, um grupo alcoxila, um grupo amino, um Ã¡tomo de halogÃªnio, um grupo ariloxila, um grupo arila, ou um grupo de anel heterocÃclico que contÃ©m um Ã¡tomo de nitrogÃªnio como membro de anel e estÃ¡ ligado ao anel X, ao qual estÃ¡ ligado o Ã¡tomo de nitrogÃªnio como membro de anel, atravÃ©s do Ã¡tomo de nitrogÃªnio; e "a" representa um nÃºmero inteiro de 0-4)
