PROCESSO PARA PREPARAR DIÃIS DE FÃRMULA (IA) E (IB) E COMPOSTOA presente invenção refere-se a um proceso para preparar dióis (Ia) e (Ib) com água e hidrogenação do 5-[1-(4-clorofenil)-met-(E)-ilideno]-1-hidroximetil-2,2-dimetil-ciclopentanol (III) resultante com hidrogênio na presença de um catalisador de metal. Compostos (Ia), (Ib) e (III) são intermediários para a sÃntese de Metconazole.
