A presente invenção refere-se a uma composição farmacêutica em gel mucoadesiva para administração de agentes terapêuticos (tal como ácido bórico) através de administração vaginal, dessa maneira atuando como agente antibactericida. A composição em gel compreende um veículo com um agente de formação de gel; e um ou mais agentes terapêuticos dispersos ou suspensos no veículo. A composição é útil para o tratamento de Candidíase vulvovaginal recorrente.
