A presente invenção refere-se a uma formulação tópica de uso genital, na forma de gel com atividade antiviral para o auxílio no controle de infecções genitais pelo vírus Herpes simplex tipo 2 (HSV-2). A formulação contém o exopolissacarídeo botriosferana (obtido do fungo Botryosphaeria rhodina MAMB-05) em combinação com aciclovir comercial. O produto deverá ser aplicado nas lesões genitais, três vezes ao dia, durante 7-9 dias.
