A presente invenção traz um valor agregado ao fio de sutura por reduzir a frequência de bactérias no sítio cirúrgico, visando a diminuição da prevalência e gravidade de infecções pós-operatórias. O dito fio de sutura é constituído por fibra sintética, trançada de Poliglactina 910(1) composta por copolímero obtido a partir ácido glicólico e L-lactida na proporção 9:1 e superfície com óleo de Lippia sidoides com atividade de inibição(2)(3) do crescimento de Staphylococcus aureus(Fig. 3) e Escherichia coli(Fig. 4), frequentes em infecções de sítio cirúrgico.
