Abstract
Composto produzido a partir de extratos, frações e óleos essenciais de espécies do gênero Montrichardia bem como seu uso como larvicida e repelente. A formulação do repelente contém extrato de Montrichardia, cuja ação repelente já foi verificada, inicialmente, contra o Plasmodium falciparum (parasita causador da malária). O alto teor de 1,8-Cineol no pecíolo e bainha de Montrichardia torna esta planta uma nova alternativa para formulações repelentes, considerando-se também que a sinergia das outras substâncias no extrato desta planta é única, e portanto, o 1,8-Cineol tem seu efeito repelente potencializado. Entre os compostos voláteis identificadas na inflorescência da Montrichardia, a (z)-jasmona é conhecida por participar do mecanismo de defesa de algumas espécies de plantas, atuando contra pragas e possuindo atividade repelente.
