Abstract
A presente invenção refere-se a um sistema de propulsão elétrica a gás para uma aeronave. O sistema pode incluir um mecanismo motor a jato turbofan, um ventilador de ingestão de camada-limite eletricamente alimentado que é acoplado a uma porção de fuselagem da traseira de aeronave do mecanismo motor a jato turbofan, e um gerador elétrico que é eletronicamente acoplado ao mecanismo motor a jato turbofan e ao ventilador de ingestão de camada-limite. O gerador elétrico converte energia rotacional do mecanismo motor a jato turbofan em energia elétrica e fornece pelo menos uma porção da energia elétrica ao ventilador de ingestão de camada-limite. Em outro aspecto da presente matéria, um método para propulsar uma aeronave através do sistema de propulsão elétrica a gás é revelado.
