A presente invenção faz referência a uma microemulsão compreendendo pelo menos três óleos voláteis selecionados do grupo que compreende em Cymbopogon ci tra tus (DC) Stapf. , Elyonurus muticus Spreng., Veti veria zizanioides Stapf. e Tetradenia riparia (Hochst.) Codd .. Adicionalmente, a invenção se refere ao uso da microemulsão aqui descrita como sanitizante em diferentes seguimentos de interesse, para controle antimicrobiano de células planctônicas e do biofilme de Staphylococcus aureus. Mais especificamente, a microemulsão pode ser utilizada na indústria de alimentos, veterinária ou farmacêutica, como alternativa aos métodos atuais de sanitização.
