MÉTODO PARA TRANSFORMAR UMA CÉLULA DE PLANTA OU TECIDO DE PLANTA USANDO AGROBACTERIUM, PLANTA TRANSGÊNICA, CÉLULA TRANSGÊNICA OU TECIDO TRANSGÊNICO, MEIO DE CULTURA, E, USO DE UM MÉTODO PARA TRANSFORMAR UMA CÉLULA DE PLANTA OU TECIDO DE PLANTA. São providos composições e métodos para transformação de plantas, preferencialmente monocotiledôneas, e ainda mais preferencialmente, cana-de-açucar. Os métodos de transformação envolvem infecção de tecido vegetal com Agrobacterium, e co-cultivo utilizando meio de cultura compreendendo altas concentrações de agente gelificante, com o resultado de inibir o crescimento exacerbado da bactéria e aumentar as frequêcias de transformação. A invenção inclui regenerar plantas transformadas, e as plantas transformadas em si.
