É descrito um processo de biodegradação de materiais poliméricos naturais e sintéticos pela ação de micro-organismos não patogênicos que prevê etapas de modificação da superfície de um material polimérico ou de um filme fino em geral utilizando radiação eletromagnética, permitindo a degradação através de micro-organismos não patogênicos, tal como fungos filamentosos entomopatogênicos, leveduras e bactérias.
